Can shrimp and amaranth be eaten together? What foods are incompatible with shrimp?

Amaranthus and shrimp are two ingredients we often eat in our daily lives. Since there may be incompatibility between foods, when people eat shrimp and amaranth, they need to understand in advance whether the two can be eaten together.

Can shrimp and amaranth be eaten together?

Amaranthus and shrimp can be eaten together appropriately. Traditional medicine believes that amaranth is cool in nature, clears away heat and detoxifies, removes dampness and stops diarrhea, and promotes bowel movements. Amaranth can promote the growth of teeth and bones, maintain normal myocardial activity, and prevent muscle spasms. It has the functions of promoting blood coagulation, increasing hemoglobin content and oxygen carrying capacity, and promoting hematopoiesis. It can reduce weight, promote detoxification, and prevent constipation.

Foods that are incompatible with shrimp:

1. Do not take large amounts of vitamin C when eating shrimp or crab.

Because shrimps, crabs and other crustaceans contain high concentrations of pentavalent arsenic compounds, which are harmless to the human body by themselves. However, if large amounts of vitamin C are taken at the same time, the pentavalent arsenic will be reduced to trivalent arsenic, also known as arsenic trioxide, commonly known as arsenic trioxide, which can cause acute arsenic poisoning and even be life-threatening in severe cases.

2. Don’t mix seafood with fruits

Because seafood contains high levels of protein, calcium, phosphorus and other nutrients, if eaten with foods high in tannic acid, not only will the nutritional value of seafood be reduced, but the calcium in seafood will combine with tannic acid to form a substance that is difficult to digest, leading to vomiting, dizziness, nausea, abdominal pain and other symptoms. Therefore, tea leaves, persimmons, grapes, pomegranates, hawthorns and other fruits that contain a lot of tannic acid should not be eaten with seafood, and should be separated by at least two hours.
