What causes blood in male ejaculation?

Normally, sperm is milky white or grayish white. If you find that the ejaculated sperm contains blood, it is hematospermia, which is a common phenomenon in male semen. What causes semen to appear red or pink?

Hematospermia

Hematospermia is a symptom of seminal vesiculitis. According to the different nature of the lesions and the amount of blood contained, hematospermia can be divided into gross hematospermia, where the semen looks bloody or has blood clots; and microscopic hematospermia, where red blood cells can only be seen under a microscope. People with this disease may have mild perineal, rectal and lower abdominal pain, or signs of urinary tract infection such as painful urination.

Other symptoms of seminal vesiculitis

1. Frequent urination, urgency, and pain during urination: Acute cases have obvious symptoms of urgency and pain during urination, and dysuria. Chronic cases have frequent urination, urgency, discomfort during urination, and a burning sensation.

2. Pain: Acute cases may cause pain in the lower abdomen. Chronic cases may cause dull pain in the upper pubic area, accompanied by discomfort in the perineum. The pain symptoms worsen during ejaculation.

3. Other symptoms: fever, chills, and shivering, which are systemic symptoms seen in acute seminal vesiculitis.
