Treatment for not sweating

There is currently no clinical cure for anhidrosis caused by congenital hypoplasia of sweat glands. If anhidrosis is caused by other diseases, the primary disease (the disease that causes anhidrosis) should be actively treated. People with anhidrosis cannot regulate their body temperature in the summer. In addition to treatment, those who feel extremely uncomfortable can move to low-temperature areas or adopt artificial cooling, such as installing air conditioners indoors.

Understanding and treatment of anhidrosis in traditional Chinese medicine

1. Kidney Yang deficiency: No sweating, hands and feet get cold easily, no matter how much exercise you do, you don't sweat. Being afraid of cold is a manifestation of weak body vitality, mostly due to kidney Yang deficiency. When Yang Qi is deficient, Qi cannot circulate blood, so blood cannot reach the extremities of blood vessels, and the extremities of the body, namely hands and feet, will get cold.

2. Kidney Yin deficiency: No sweat on the whole body under any circumstances, only heat in the palms and soles, slight sweating, weight loss, hot flashes, heat in the five hearts, dry throat and red cheeks, etc.

(1) Internal treatment

① Yin fluid deficiency syndrome: It is often seen in congenital deficiency or heat disease that damages the Yin, making it unbearable in the hot summer, with dry mouth and throat, feces like sheep feces, red tongue with little coating, and a weak pulse. The treatment should be to nourish Yin and produce body fluid, and nourish the source of sweat.

Prescription: 30g of Radix Rehmanniae, 10g of Radix Ophiopogonis, 10g of Radix Polygonati Odorati, 10g of Radix Trichosanthis, 20g of Radix Astragali, 10g of Radix Puerariae, 10g of Radix Angelicae Sinensis, 10g of Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae, and 10g of Fructus Schisandrae Chinensis.

Dosage: decoction in water, 1 dose per day.

②Yang deficiency and weak Qi syndrome: often seen in people with congenital deficiency or long-term illness, with reduced sweating, cold body and limbs, sore waist and knees, dry skin, pale tongue with little coating, and thin and weak pulse. The treatment should be to replenish Qi and strengthen Yang, and nourish the skin.

Prescription: Cistanche deserticola 20g, Suoyang 10g, Deer Horn Frost 30g, Astragalus 30g, Codonopsis pilosula 15g, Rehmannia glutinosa 30g, Raw Yam 60g, Atractylodes macrocephala 15g, Eucommia ulmoides 15g.

Dosage: decoction in water, 1 dose per day.

(2) External treatment

① In the hot summer, you can wear light-colored cotton fabrics and loose clothes to prevent sweating, and take other measures to prevent heat stroke.

② For those with hot skin without sweating and who cannot stand the summer heat, you can use 60g of Liuyi Powder, 15g of Alum, and 2g of Borneol, grind them into fine powder, and wrap them in gauze.

③Mix it into 5% licorice alcohol and apply it externally to effectively reduce skin temperature.

(3) Diet therapy (suitable for hot summer days)

① Use 60g mung beans, 80g white rice and 20g white sugar to make porridge.

② 60g watermelon rind (remove the green skin and pulp), cut into slices, boil in water, and drink as tea.

③10g green tea, 15g mung bean skins, brew tea.
