What is poor bladder filling and does it need treatment?

When we feel unwell, we go to the hospital for a checkup. Among all the examination equipment in the hospital, B-ultrasound is a relatively accurate examination equipment that can help doctors see the internal conditions of the body and make a diagnosis. When some people are doing B-ultrasound, the doctor will tell them that their bladder is not full enough. What does this mean?

What does a poorly filled bladder mean?

Poor bladder filling means that there is too little urine in it and B-ultrasound cannot be performed.

The bladder is spherical when full

The position and proximity of the bladder When the bladder is empty, it is cone-shaped and located in the front of the pelvic cavity. It can be divided into four parts: the tip, body, base, and neck, but there is no obvious boundary between the parts. When it is full, it is spherical and can rise above the upper edge of the pubic symphysis. At this time, the peritoneal fold also moves upward, and the anterior and lateral wall of the bladder is directly adjacent to the anterior abdominal wall. This anatomical relationship is often used in clinical practice to perform bladder puncture or surgical incision above the upper edge of the pubic symphysis without injuring the peritoneum.

Children have a higher bladder position

The bladder of children is located higher in the abdominal cavity, and gradually descends to the pelvic cavity around the age of six. The front of the empty bladder is adjacent to the pubic symphysis, with the retropubic space in between; the lower and outer side of the bladder is adjacent to the levator ani muscle, the internus muscle and its fascia, and the space is filled with loose connective tissue, which is called the paravesical tissue, and the pelvic part of the ureter passes through it.

The bladders of men and women are different

The upper part of the male bladder base is adjacent to the rectum through the pouch of the bladder, and the bladder base below the peritoneal fold line is adjacent to the vas deferens and the seminal vesicle; in women, it is adjacent to the uterus and the anterior wall of the vagina. The upper part of the bladder is adjacent to the small intestine loop, and in women, it is also adjacent to the uterus. The lower part of the bladder is the bladder neck, which is connected to the urethra below. In men, it is adjacent to the prostate, and in women, it is adjacent to the urogenital diaphragm.
