What is bladder papilloma? It's scary

Bladder papilloma is a particularly serious tumor that threatens health. Therefore, patients with this disease must not ignore its harm to the body and must receive treatment as soon as possible. What is bladder papilloma?

Bladder papilloma

Bladder papilloma is a non-invasive benign tumor of the urothelial cells. It has a low incidence, accounting for about 1.0% to 2.2% of bladder epithelial tumors. The male to female ratio is (4 to 5): 1. It often occurs in the bladder trigone and ureteral opening, most of which are single, and a few are multiple.

Bladder Papilloma Symptoms

Symptoms are mainly hematuria, dysuria, and urinary tract irritation. There are also reports of physical examination findings. Most tumors are small, with a diameter of less than 3 cm, pedunculated, and smooth surface. Microscopically, the surface of the tumor is covered with a thin layer of normal bladder transitional epithelium, and the tumor lesions underneath are inwardly sunken, showing endogenous growth, forming epithelial cell clusters. To the naked eye, they appear as slender papillae, which float in the urine and are easily broken and detached.

Pathological changes

Papilloma can be single or multiple, usually small in size, about 0.5 to 2.0 cm, forming papillary protrusions on the surface of the bladder mucosa. Sometimes the papilla is thin and long, villi-like or branched, and connected to the bladder mucosa by a pedicle. The thin and long papilla floats in the urine and is easy to break off and fall off, causing hematuria.

Although bladder papilloma is highly differentiated, it is easy to recur after surgical resection. As the number of recurrences increases, the degree of differentiation decreases, and it is easy to become cancerous.

If you feel any discomfort, be sure to go to the hospital for examination as soon as possible. Early detection and early treatment are the best.
