Urethritis is a common urinary tract disease in today's society. It usually refers to inflammation of the urethral mucosa. It can be clinically divided into acute and chronic, non-specific urethritis and gonococcal urethritis. It is mostly caused by pathogenic bacteria retrogradely invading the urethra. Although urethritis is common in women, men can also have symptoms of urethritis, and its complications should not be ignored. Manifestations: frequent urination, painful urination, urgent urination and hematuria. In the acute phase, males may have urethral secretions, which are mucous at first and then purulent. Females have less secretions. When the disease becomes chronic, it manifests as urethral stinging and discomfort during urination. The urethral secretions decrease and become a thin syrup. In acute attacks, there is dull pain in the suprapubic area and perineum, and the urethral opening is red and has secretions. Complications: Complications in male patients include epididymitis, prostatitis, seminal vesiculitis, etc.; complications in female patients include endometritis, salpingitis, pelvic inflammatory disease, peritonitis, etc. Infection in the urethra can spread directly to the bladder or prostate, causing cystitis or prostatitis. If acute urethritis is not properly treated, it may be complicated by paraurethral abscesses, which can penetrate the penis skin and become urethral fistulas. Fibrosis during the healing process of urethritis can cause urethral stenosis. 1. Antibiotic Application There are many kinds of drugs currently used for treatment. Two to three drugs should be selected and used in combination according to the type of pathogen and its sensitivity to the drugs. The curative effect is better. The medication should be continued for 7 to 10 days before it can be stopped after the symptoms disappear completely, the urine test is normal, and the bacterial culture is negative. 2. Adjunctive therapy In the acute stage, you should drink plenty of water to increase urine volume and flush the urethra. If you have frequent urination, urgency, and pain, you can take anti-convulsants and remove various inducements that cause urethritis. Urethritis caused by sexually transmitted diseases should be treated at the same time as your spouse, otherwise it will be difficult to cure. 3. Local treatment Used for chronic urethritis, contraindicated in acute stage. ① Urethral dilation. ② Intraurethral instillation of drugs. ③ Endoscopic electrocautery. The above is all I have to say about the symptoms and treatments of male urethritis. If a patient has the above symptoms, he or she needs to go to a regular hospital for examination and treatment as soon as possible. Patients with urethritis need to pay attention to drinking more water, which helps to excrete toxins and is helpful for the treatment of male or female urethritis. |
