What items should be included in the male physical examination

What items should be included in the male physical examination

Routine physical examinations are very important for everyone. Many diseases do not have obvious symptoms at first. Routine physical examinations can help us detect them in advance and intervene in time. However, there are too many routine physical examination items nowadays, which often dazzles us. October 28 is Men's Health Day. Taking advantage of this traditional festival, Xi Yujun will tell you what routine physical examination items are really worth doing for men.

1. Physical examination is done every year

At present, many residents can have a physical examination every year, which includes:

Full body physical examination: weight, blood pressure, internal and external medicine, gynecology, eyes, ears, oral cavity, etc.;

Blood tests: routine blood tests, liver function, blood sugar, blood sugar level;

Urine test: routine urine test, kidney function, blood uric acid;

Auxiliary examinations: electrocardiogram, abdominal ultrasound.

It is recommended to have a physical examination every year. If you suffer from high blood pressure and diabetes, you need to test your blood pressure and blood sugar more frequently. The frequency of testing should be based on your doctor's instructions.

2. The following filters follow the age

1. Men over 40 years old need to be screened for prostate cancer regularly

The Cleveland Clinic in the UK recommends that men over 40 years old should undergo prostate cancer screening every year. The new items include:

Digital rectal examination;

Prostate-specific antigen in men.

2. Men over 50 years old need to undergo colorectal cancer screening

The incidence of colorectal cancer ranks among the top five in my country, and the incidence rate in men is significantly higher than that in women.

Men aged 50 and above need to undergo colorectal cancer screening. New items include:

Have a stool occult blood test once a year;

Sigmoidoscopy every 3 years;

Get a colonoscopy every 10 years.

If you have a family history of colon cancer or polyps, or if you have inflammatory bowel disease or intestinal polyps, it is recommended that you start regular checkups just after age 40.

If you have any of the following symptoms, you may need more frequent testing under the specific guidance of your doctor:

Ulcerative colitis;

I have had colorectal cancer.

3. Men over 55 years old need to undergo lung cancer screening

Lung cancer is the most common cancer in my country and also the most lethal cancer. The incidence rate in men is about twice that in women.

Cleveland Clinic recommends that key lung cancer patients undergo low-dose CT scans every year. Key lung cancer patients include:

People who have been smokers for more than 30 years and smoke up to 1 pack a day;

Smokers for more than 15 years and smoke 2 packs a day or more.

Compared with other lung cancer tests, low-dose CT is more effective in screening early lung cancer.

4. Men over 65 years old need to undergo abdominal aortic aneurysm scanning

Everyone may be unfamiliar with abdominal aortic aneurysm. It is not a tumor as we often say, but a change in the appearance of an enlarged pulmonary artery. More than half of patients with abdominal aortic aneurysm have no symptoms in the early stages. As the tumor enlarges, they will experience abdominal distension, frequent urination, and constipation. The greater damage of abdominal aortic aneurysm depends on the rupture of the tumor, which causes internal bleeding. The incidence of abdominal aortic aneurysm in men is 3 times higher than that in women, and the peak age of occurrence is 70-80 years old. Smoking is the strongest risk factor.
