How to read sperm test report

How to read sperm test report

Many people may feel guilty about the problems of male reproductive organs, especially some male friends who do not understand the test results after receiving the sperm test report. When consulting a doctor, they feel a little shy and do not want to know the details. So, how to read the sperm test report? Now, authoritative experts will teach you how to read the test report and think about the quality of your sperm:

1. Sperm density. If the amount of semen discharged on the 6th day after 5 days without ejaculation reaches 3-5 ml, generally not less than 1.5 ml, it is considered normal semen discharge; otherwise, it can be regarded as low sperm count.

2. Semen color and viscosity. Normal sperm is grayish white and jelly-like, and usually evaporates into a transparent liquid after 10 minutes. If the semen discharged for the first time after a long period of time (about 1 month) is light yellow, it is also normal.

3. pH acidity. Normal fresh semen is slightly alkaline, with a pH value of 7.2 to 8.9, and an average of 7.8. When it is acidic, the sperm motility and basal metabolic rate are reduced, while alkaline increases, and over-alkalinity is not worth the loss. If fresh semen is left idle for a long time, it will automatically alkalinize, which will affect sperm motility. Therefore, when testing semen, it must be fresh semen, and it is generally not suitable to exceed 1 hour.

4. Sperm count. According to general medical knowledge, 1 ml of semen of a normal adult male contains 60 million to 150 million sperms. 1 ml of semen contains only 10 million to 40 million sperms, and the person is still fertile. Those with less than 10 million sperms per ml are infertile, and those with azoospermia are definitely infertile.

5. Measurement of sperm survival rate and motility. The sperm survival rate of ordinary people should be above 85% to 90%, but the motility of surviving sperm still varies. Medical testing technology generally uses 0, , , , and other marks to indicate the motility of sperm: "0" indicates no motility, such as necrospermia; " " indicates weak motility; " " indicates good motility; " " indicates very good motility. In addition, the "climbing experiment" of sperm can also be used to observe the motility of sperm.

6. Sperm morphology:

Normal blood pressure sperm: The back of the head is oval, the sides are flat, and the tail is long and curved, shaped like a frog.

Immature male sperm in the blood, also called baby-type male sperm: its head is very small, or has an extra "cap", or contains attachments in the body.

To replenish the sperm of males with declining sperm: the head is darker in color, with many small black spots in the middle, but there are also cases where the head is not colored at the root, like cavitation.

Negative sperm abnormality: one or more of the three parts of the head, body and tail have morphological genetic mutations. The sum of various sperm abnormalities does not exceed 20% of the total number of sperm, which can be regarded as normal. There are very few white blood cell counts in the semen, and the average white blood cell count under high-power microscope is no more than 5, which can be regarded as normal. If there are too many white blood cell counts, it can also affect fertility.
