What are the dangers of drinking for men?

Drinking is one of the most important eating habits in our lives. Whether it is a private banquet or a large banquet, alcohol is present. Although alcohol can make people feel happy, drinking too much alcohol can cause great damage to the body, especially for men. Men who like to party are very dependent on alcohol. So, what are the dangers of men drinking? Let's take a look at the introduction below.

According to scientists, drinking 80-150 grams of liquor every day for 5 consecutive years can cause liver damage. Drinking large amounts of liquor for more than 20 years will cause 40%-50% of people to develop cirrhosis, and drinking 200 grams of liquor every day for 10 years can cause fatty liver.

The damaging effect of alcohol on the liver is mainly caused by ethanol itself and its metabolite acetaldehyde. The large accumulation of ethanol and acetaldehyde will reduce the biological activity of various enzymes in liver cells, affect the normal metabolism of sugar, fat and protein, change the cell membrane structure, cause liver cell damage, fat deposition, and even liver fibrosis and cirrhosis.

In addition, acetaldehyde is a vasoactive substance that can cause capillary dilation. Some people lack acetaldehyde metabolizing enzymes in their bodies and cannot quickly convert acetaldehyde into acetic acid. Therefore, after drinking a small amount of liquor, the skin of the cheeks, neck and chest may become flushed. In severe cases, people may experience palpitations, shortness of breath or depression.

Mild alcoholic liver disease has no conscious symptoms, while severe cases have clinical manifestations such as loss of appetite, nausea, abdominal distension, hepatomegaly, jaundice or ascites. Laboratory tests may show varying degrees of liver function abnormalities, among which aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and glutamyl transferase (GGT) are the most prominent.

From the above introduction, there are many dangers for men to drink, especially the damage to the liver is irreversible. Severe alcoholism may lead to a high incidence of liver cancer. People should pay attention to this problem. Nowadays, most liver cancers are closely related to drinking. Therefore, for the sake of health, we should reduce alcohol intake.
