Sperm survival rate refers to the proportion of live sperm in a drop of semen. Normal sperm survival rate> 85-90%, can move in a certain direction, climb 5cm, sperm abnormality< 20%. Sperm survival rate basic meaning Male fertility is directly proportional to sperm count and sperm motility, and inversely proportional to the number of sperm abnormalities; if the semen test results show that the semen is less than 2ml, the sperm count is less than 60 million/ml, or the normal sperm morphology is less than 60%, the sperm survival rate is less than 60%, and the sperm motility is below II, it will have a direct impact on pregnancy. Sperm survival rate reasons (1) Inflammation. Inflammation of the epididymal cyst, seminal vesicle, and male prostate gland may cause genetic mutations in sperm, which may affect the activity and survival of male sperm in terms of pH, oxygen production, nutrients, and metabolism. (2) Insufficient sperm density. Male sperm have little space to move around. (3) Varicose veins. The male testicles are deprived of oxygen due to the obstruction of venous blood flow. In addition, the levels of prostacyclin and 5-hydroxytryptamine in the venous blood increase, which can cause the motility of male sperm to decrease. (4) The body produces anti-sperm antibodies, which cause sperm to agglutinate or inhibit the sperm system. (5) Testicular development is blocked. For example, if the spermatogenic epithelial cells of the male testicles are not completely perfect or are damaged and softened, the sperm quality will be poor and the charm will be weakened. (6) Lack of nutrients. In particular, zinc deficiency can affect the motility of male sperm. (7) Chlamydia infection. Chlamydia adheres to the tail of male sperm and can affect the motility of male sperm. Sperm survival rate test Low sperm viability is tested based on three main parameters: quality, total number, and time. (1) Mix one drop of semen with one drop of 0.5% indigo red solution (prepared with purified water). (2) Add 2 drops of 10% aniline black (nigzosin) (prepared with pure water) and mix thoroughly. (3) Perform acid-fast staining, air-dry, and observe under a 400x microscope or a 1000-1250x oil microscope. (4) Live sperm on a red background are not stained, while dead sperm are stained bright red. Count 200 sperm to measure the percentage of live sperm. How to diagnose sperm survival rate Low sperm survival rate is mainly diagnosed based on routine semen examination and analysis and medical history. It is required to abstain from sex for 3 to 7 days before taking sperm. If routine semen examination and analysis for more than 3 times shows that the forward movement of sperm (ab grade) is less than 50% or the rapid straight forward movement of sperm is less than 25%, and the sperm count is more than 20~106/mL, and other important parameters are normal or almost normal, then it can be diagnosed as asthenozoospermia. Or if the sperm motility rate of a man is less than 50% 1 hour after ejaculation, and the laboratory or other auxiliary tests can detect reproductive system infection, or other diseases that affect sperm motility, it can be diagnosed as asthenozoospermia. |
