What to check for male infertility

What to check for male infertility

Male infertility is mainly related to reproductive organs such as the kidney, prostate, seminal vesicle and penis, so the symptoms of male infertility examination are mainly to check whether these organs are abnormal. First of all, men should control their sexual life to avoid impotence, and they also need to adjust their physical condition, improve the quality of semen, avoid low sperm count and avoid genital inflammation, etc., which are related to men's living habits.

What tests are done for male infertility?

1. Semen quality test:

Male infertility is mostly due to sperm issues. Sperm is the key to a man's pregnancy. Without healthy sperm combining with a woman's egg, normal pregnancy is naturally impossible and the man will be infertile.

First, a semen quality test should be done. Many causes of infertility will be reflected in the semen test results. Repeated tests should be done. If the test results show an abnormal sperm count, it means that the semen quality is abnormal.

2. Biochemical examination of semen:

This test can reflect the function of the seminal vesicle, epididymis, and prostate. Other methods to check sperm quality include sperm climbing test, checking whether there are anti-sperm antibodies in semen and blood, and sperm agglutination test.

3. Medical history examination:

When a man becomes infertile, he needs to have his medical history checked, mainly to check whether the patient has had any reproductive system diseases before. In addition, the doctor also needs to check the patient's family genetic history to check whether there is a family history of genetic diseases and rule out genetic factors.

4. Sexual function test:

It is mainly to check whether the male has normal sexual function, whether he can have normal sexual desire, erection, sexual intercourse, orgasm and ejaculation. Whether there are any abnormal problems in the process.

Male Infertility Symptoms

1. Hypersemesis and hyposemesis: The normal amount of semen discharged at one time is 2 to 6 ml. Less than 1.5 ml is hyposemesis, and more than 6 ml is hypersemesis. Hypersemesis does not mean increased sperm count.

2. Hematospermia: There is blood mixed in the semen. In severe cases, blood can be seen in the semen with the naked eye, which is called "gross blood-spermia"; in mild cases, blood cannot be seen with the naked eye, but red blood cells can be seen under a microscope, which is called "submicroscopic hematospermia".

3. Non-liquefaction of semen: Symptoms of male infertility are manifested in that normal semen is a uniformly flowing liquid. If in vitro semen does not liquefy or still contains liquefied agglomerates after 60 minutes at room temperature (22-25 degrees Celsius), it is called "non-liquefaction of semen syndrome", which affects the aggregation or braking of sperm, slowing down or inhibiting the normal movement of sperm.

4. White turbidity: refers to semen mixed in male urine, or semen-like turbidity after urination.

When a man has infertility, the most important thing is to go to the hospital for a checkup to confirm whether he is really suffering from infertility. In addition, infertility also has many symptoms as signs. As long as you recognize your disease in advance, you can get treatment quickly, which can greatly reduce the losses caused by infertility.
