Hyperplastic erythema of glans

Hyperplastic erythema of glans

I believe that some men in life have male diseases that are difficult to talk about. Erythema glans is one of them. This disease occurs in the private parts of men, so many men are probably embarrassed to see a doctor, which is a very dangerous behavior. Remind male friends that when they find erythema on their glans, they should go to the hospital for treatment in time, otherwise it will affect future fertility problems. So what is the cause of erythema glans?

This disease mainly occurs in patients with prepuce that has not undergone circumcision. The age of the patients is mostly between 20 and 60 years old. The lesions often occur in the glans penis, urethral orifice, coronal sulcus, and foreskin. Other parts of the mucosa such as the oral mucosa, vulva, and anus may also be affected. Most of them are single, and the lesion usually appears as a single bright red or light red spot with clear boundaries. Some are slightly raised, soft in texture or with hard edges. It is round and irregular in shape, covered with shiny, grayish-white scales that are not easy to peel off. The diameter of the skin lesion is between 0.2 and 3.5 cm, with an average of about 1 cm. Larger lesions can be formed by the gradual expansion of a single lesion or the fusion of multiple small lesions. Most of them are shiny and slightly raised erythema or velvety plaques. If there is infiltration, erosion, rupture or papilloma-like damage, changes of invasive squamous carcinoma are often found under the microscope. This disease develops slowly and may not change for many years. If it is not treated properly, it may develop into squamous carcinoma.

Treatment:

1. General treatment

(1) We should have strong faith in fighting against disease.

(2) Avoid sun exposure, especially those who are sensitive to sunlight. When going out, you should take precautions against sun exposure and avoid using photosensitizing drugs such as phenothiazines, hydrochlorothiazide, sulfonamides, and griseofulvin.

(3) Avoid overwork. Patients with acute or active SLE should rest in bed. Avoid pregnancy and avoid taking contraceptives. Patients with renal impairment or multi-system damage should undergo therapeutic abortion as soon as possible if contraception fails.

(4) Avoid catching colds or other infections.

(5) Enhance immunity and pay attention to nutrition and vitamin supplementation.

2. Avoid local stimulation. It can be treated by local surgical excision, local cryotherapy or photodynamic therapy. 5% to 20% fluorouracil cream can also be applied externally, but care should be taken to protect the scrotum, otherwise it is easy to be stimulated and edema occurs. Shallow X-ray irradiation has a better effect, usually with low voltage, generally 29 to 43 kV, 3000 to 5000 R.
