The corpus penis is composed of the corpus cavernosum and the corpus urethrae, and has abundant blood vessels, nerves, and lymphatic vessels.

Erectile tissue and erection: Erectile tissue is mainly a pair of penile corpora cavernosa, which are covered with thick fibrous tissue on the dorsal side of the urethral corpora cavernosa. The corpora cavernosa is composed of many small channels of fibrous tissue, and the trabeculae divide it into many gaps, which are actually venous sinuses formed by the expansion of capillaries. When the erection is aroused, a large amount of blood is injected into the vascular part of the corpora cavernosa, and the volume increases. Retraction is because the sciatic corpora cavernosa muscles release the pressure on the dorsal vein of the penis, allowing blood to flow back.
