Sweat odor and body odor are very different, how to distinguish them?

Body odor and sweat odor, I believe most people don't know much about these two diseases, and many people even think that sweat odor is equal to body odor. After all, when a person sweats more, it is easy for people around to think that he has body odor, which affects personal communication. So, how can we distinguish between body odor and sweat odor?

What is body odor?

First of all, body odor, also known as bromhidrosis, refers to the secretion of sweat with a special odor or the sweat that produces an odor after decomposition. Bromhidrosis is more common in areas where there is excessive sweating, sweat is not easy to evaporate, and the apocrine glands are located, such as the armpits, groin, feet, and bromhidrosis caused by eccrine glands is often associated with hyperhidrosis. It is common in the soles of the feet and between the toes, because bacteria decompose sweat to produce odor. Apocrine glands are affected by endocrine and begin to secrete actively during adolescence. Therefore, bromhidrosis caused by apocrine glands often appears during adolescence and may be alleviated or disappear in old age. The formation of special odors is caused by the reaction of bacteria and the secretions of apocrine glands to produce unsaturated fatty acids. Bromhidrosis caused by apocrine glands is related to genetic factors, and most patients have a family history. It is usually easy to diagnose based on the special odor and distribution location.

What are the characteristics of sweat odor?

However, sweat odor refers to the concentrated sweat secreted by the sweat glands of the human body, which contains multiple components such as protein, lipids, fatty acids, cholesterol and glucose. Sweat is a thin liquid secreted by the sweat glands, of which water accounts for 99%, and the rest is sodium chloride, potassium, sulfur and urea. Sweat itself has no odor, but when sweat mixes with bacteria on the surface of the skin, it will produce an odor. Certain parts of the body, such as the armpits, feet and groin, are prone to bacteria accumulation and have more sweat glands, so sweat is more difficult to evaporate and the odor is stronger.

Different treatment methods

It can be seen that body odor is a hereditary family disease and sweat odor is a normal physiological phenomenon. Although the two are similar, they have different treatment methods. Sweat odor is something that happens to everyone every day. The reason why sweat has a bad odor is generally due to the reaction of bacteria and fungi with sweat. Therefore, as long as personal hygiene is maintained, bathing frequently, especially changing clothes frequently in summer, if the body odor is too severe, laser treatment or surgical treatment can be chosen.
