Barbell: Increase chest muscle thickness

If you want to increase muscle mass, barbell training is the most important and basic exercise. It is recommended that beginners put barbell training as the first step, because the range of motion of barbell training is relatively small, so it is necessary to stimulate the entire chest muscle from different angles (incline and decline) and using different grip distances. A relatively simple and safe training method is the flat barbell lying press, which can effectively exercise the entire chest and increase thickness.

First, lie flat on the bench with your feet naturally on the ground, then adjust the front and back position of your body so that your eyes are directly below the barbell on the bench. With a grip slightly wider than your shoulders, remove the barbell from the bench and slowly lower it until your upper arms are parallel to the ground. Repeat this exercise three or four times, with each set doing about 12-15 push-ups, depending on your physical condition. Once you are proficient, you can do the downward incline barbell bench press, focusing on training the lower chest muscles, and the difficulty of the operation is slightly increased.

The chest press machine is specifically designed to train the separation of the chest muscles. Compared with other methods of training the chest muscles at home, the effect of this machine is very targeted. When practicing, the back must be close to the backrest, and the elbows should be used to exert force. Because the buttocks and back are close to the backrest, only the chest muscles can be used. When exercising with this machine, 95% of the effect is on the pectoralis major, and this exercise will not cause any harm to other parts of the body.
