Red beans are one of the grains we often eat. They have the effect of beautifying and removing moisture. However, red beans are not easy to cook until they are soft. So what is a better way to cook red beans until they are soft? 1. Pre-soaking method The night before you cook the red beans, soak them in water overnight. If the weather is hot, you can soak them in the refrigerator. Rinse the soaked red beans, put them in a pot and boil them over high heat. Remove the foam and simmer over low heat. The red beans in the pot will soon be cooked. It is faster to cook them in a pressure cooker. You can also cook fully soaked red beans in this way. After boiling, cook for about 1 minute and then turn off the heat. Do not open the lid of the pot. Let it simmer until the water cools down and it will become rotten. This is very energy-saving. The disadvantage of this method is that some nutrients will be lost, and after the red beans have been soaked for a long time, the red bean paste will not be red enough. If you plan to make red bean paste, it is best not to cook it this way. 2. Boiling and soaking method Wash the unsoaked red beans, wait for the water in the pot to boil before adding the red beans, boil again and continue cooking for 3-5 minutes, turn off the heat and soak for about 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, turn on the heat again and cook for about 10 minutes or so until it is rotten. This method of cooking red beans is good, with less nutritional loss and is more energy-saving. It is even better and faster if cooked in a high pressure cooker. 3. Repeated Simmering Method This method is more suitable for people with plenty of time. It takes time, but it saves fire. Wash the red beans and put them directly in the pot. Bring to a boil, simmer, boil again, and simmer again. Repeat this up to 3 times until the red beans are cooked. The repeated simmering method can also be used like this: put the red beans in a pot, add a little water first, add a small amount of cold water after boiling, boil again and add cold water again, repeat several times until the red beans are cooked. 4. Stir-fry and stew Put the red beans in a pot without adding oil, and stir-fry over low heat until they turn slightly yellow and have a fragrant aroma. If you add water at this point, they will easily become overcooked. 5. Freezing method After washing the red beans, add enough water to cover them and soak them for about 30 minutes until the red beans have completely absorbed the water. Divide them into small bags and put them in the freezer of the refrigerator. Take them out when you need to cook them. They will become rotten after a little cooking. 6. High pressure cooking method Put the washed red beans into a pressure cooker, bring to a boil over high heat, then simmer for 15 minutes over low heat until cooked. You can also cook in a pressure cooker this way: after boiling, switch to low heat and continue cooking for 5 minutes, then turn off the heat and simmer for a while until cooked. This cooking method saves fire but takes some time. |
