In 100 years, all men will be hairless here.

A head of black and shiny hair gives people the impression of being young, vigorous and full of energy. However, losing hair before aging always brings troubles to people. Prince William of the United Kingdom is facing such a "crisis". He once had thick hair that charmed thousands of girls, but before he turned 30, the hair on his head has gradually become sparse. From the close-up shots captured by the British media, you can even see his scalp. It's not just Prince William. According to some entertainment media reports, many young stars are also losing hair before aging. Moreover, among ordinary people, men who are troubled by hair loss are getting younger and younger. Some college students have become "bald" before they graduate.

How much hair do people have? Why do we lose hair? Why are there more and more young people who are bald before they get old? Is there any truth to the saying that "smart heads don't grow hair"?

All adult men will be bald within 100 years

In fact, hair loss has been a problem for men since ancient times. In ancient Egypt, there was an ointment made from a mixture of crocodile oil and hippopotamus feces to treat hair loss, which shows how much attention people have paid to hair loss. In fact, the word Caesar means hair in Latin, but ironically, the Greek Emperor Caesar loved to pull his sparse hair left and right, and even wore a laurel wreath for a long time. He racked his brains to cover his hair loss throughout his life, which is intriguing.

"Judging from the current trend, more and more people are suffering from hair loss," said Professor Wang Fei, a famous dermatologist. Judging from the number of hair loss patients he has seen in his outpatient clinic, the number has at least doubled compared to ten years ago.

A questionnaire survey of 3,000 men with hair loss showed that the trend of hair loss among Chinese men is getting younger and younger, with about 60% of them starting to lose hair before the age of 25. Other surveys show that about 1/4 of men start to lose hair at the age of 30. Data show that currently about 50% of adult men in the world are troubled by hair loss, and the average incidence of hair loss among adult men in Chinese cities is about 25%. Compared with Asians, whites have a higher hair loss rate.

Some experts believe that male baldness may be an inevitable trend of human evolution. A German dermatologist even made a shocking prediction about men's baldness, saying, "In 100 years, all adult men will be bald!" A Japanese expert believes that in a few hundred years, the vast majority of men will be bald, and by that time, people with a head full of hair may be laughed at.

Choose your ancestors carefully to avoid future baldness

Why did Prince William's hair suddenly become thinner? Some media dug up the history of hair loss in the British royal family: Prince William's grandfather, Prince Philip, was already bald when he was young, his father, Prince Charles, still had thick hair at the age of 25, but by the age of 28, he had already started to show signs of hair loss and had a typical "Mediterranean" hairstyle, and Prince William's uncle, Prince Edward, also had thinning hair.

Many people have therefore concluded that Prince William inherited the family's baldness gene.

Professor Wang Fei introduced that hair loss can be divided into many types. The most common is male pattern baldness, in which the hair on the top of the head is bald, and the temples and front hairline recede backwards. People with male pattern baldness have hair that gradually becomes fine, soft, sparse, and falls out, and the hair loss gradually extends inward. After several years to decades, the hair on the forehead and top of the head may fall out completely, and in a few people, hair loss starts from the top of the head.

It is estimated that more than 80% of this type of hair loss is caused by genetics. It is generally believed that male pattern baldness is a genetic disease. A foreign scholar jokingly told men: "Choose your ancestors carefully to avoid baldness." This statement reveals the relationship between male pattern baldness and genetics.
