What are the precautions before sperm testing?

Recently, many families have experienced symptoms of infertility. This may be caused by problems with the men, or it may be due to problems with the women, or it may be due to problems with the sperm quality of our male friends. Therefore, we must go to the relevant hospital for examination, but there are some precautions before sperm examination that require special attention from male friends.

1. Sexual abstinence for more than 48 hours but no longer than 7 days is required before the semen test. The patient should stop sexual intercourse for 4 to 7 days. Testosterone propionate, testosterone phenylacetate, and nandrolone phenylpropionate should not be used 1 week before the test.

2. When collecting semen, all semen from one ejaculation should be collected for testing. It is best to collect it by masturbation in the laboratory. If it is difficult, you can use a semen collector, or use soft soap or paraffin oil to massage the penis and collect the specimen in a sterile test tube. You can also use condoms (washed clean, without spermicides) or use the intercourse interruption method to collect semen, but the amount collected in this way is often not much.

3. Semen should not be exposed to overheating or overcooling. It should be handed over to a doctor for examination immediately and should not be kept for more than 30 minutes.

4. Before collecting semen, you must stop having sex for 2 to 7 days, and you must not masturbate or have nocturnal emission. You should also abstain from smoking and drinking, and avoid taking drugs that affect spermatogenesis. The best time to collect semen is in the morning. Wash your hands, genitals, and especially the glans penis with warm water before collecting semen. You can use masturbation or electric massage ejaculation to induce ejaculation. The discharge of semen has a certain order. The first part comes from the prostate, epididymis, and pelvis, accompanied by a large number of sperm, and the last part comes from the seminal vesicle, so the whole semen should be collected, and no part should be missed, especially the first part.

What are the precautions before sperm testing are issues that our male friends need to pay special attention to. You must not have sex before a sperm test, otherwise the sperm we extract may not be able to effectively reflect the physical health of our male friends, affecting the results of our examination.
