The skin and subcutaneous tissue of the foreskin are loose, and there are abundant blood vessels and lymphatic vessels in it. It is the end of the body's circulation, so the blood and lymph return at a relatively slow rate, and it is a part that is prone to edema. During sexual intercourse, as the sexual intercourse progresses, the foreskin is constantly impacted by the upward force, which is particularly obvious when suffering from phimosis or prepuce is too long. After foreskin incarceration, there is severe local pain, redness and swelling of the glans penis, and edema of the foreskin. The longer the incarceration time, the more severe the swelling. If not treated in time, the foreskin and glans penis will suffer from ischemia and necrosis.

When the foreskin is too long or phimosis occurs, the glans penis is prone to accumulating dirt, which together with the secretions of the glands inside the foreskin forms smegma. The accumulation of smegma can cause balanitis or glans penis inflammation. Over time, the inflammation will shrink the foreskin opening and form adhesions with the glans penis, which will lead to acquired phimosis.
