What is testicular pain?

What is testicular pain?

I believe everyone knows how important men's testicles are, because testicles are one of the lifeblood of men, and are as important as the penis. Generally, there are two testicles, but in special circumstances, some men may have three testicles, and some men may have only one testicle, which is abnormal. So the question is, what is testicular pain?

Testicular pain is one of the most common clinical symptoms in men's medicine. Testicular disease is often caused by trauma, inflammation, tumors, etc. Testicular disease often affects the normal functioning of important reproductive organs. It can lead to male infertility. Therefore, testicular pain should be treated promptly. If treatment is delayed, it is likely to cause physical pain and mental pain.

Pain symptoms

The degree of testicular pain is not directly proportional to the severity of orchitis. Testicular pain is not necessarily proportional to the severity of inflammation.

The degree of sensitivity is different. In case of chronic testicular pain, the mild pain lasts for several days, is mild and generalized, sometimes the pain is not so sensitive, and is dull. Some pain is caused by varicocele or pain radiating from other parts of the body.

Causes of pain

Many men suffer from testicular problems. Due to their lack of knowledge, many men will blindly choose treatment methods, which makes the undiagnosed condition more serious. There are many causes of testicular pain, but the main ones are testicular torsion, testicular injury, orchitis, and testicular ischemic pain.

1. Testicular torsion. Testicular torsion is one of the common acute symptoms in the scrotum. Generally, there is vigorous activity a few hours before the onset of the disease, or the testicle has been subjected to external force. Severe testicular pain occurs suddenly during sleep or quiet time. This is the first symptom of this disease and one of its main diagnostic bases. Some patients are accompanied by nausea and vomiting, scrotal swelling, and obvious tenderness.

2. Testicular injury. The testicles are more mobile in the scrotum and are protected by a tough white membrane, so the chance of closure injury is relatively small. Testicular injury is mostly related to violence, car accidents, etc. After injury, the testicles will be severely painful with nausea, vomiting, and even fainting or shock. During physical examination, there will be testicular swelling, unclear contours or scrotal congestion, and obvious tenderness. B-ultrasound and CT are not only helpful for the diagnosis of this disease, but also can clarify the location and range of testicular injury.

3. Testicular ischemic pain. Testicular ischemic pain is more common in the elderly. The pain is more severe, aggravated by activity, and relieved by rest. Prostatic fluid microscopy is normal. It is often caused by sclerosis of the testicular artery leading to arterial stenosis. Testicular artery atherosclerosis is often a local manifestation of systemic vascular lesions, mostly unilateral lesions, more common on the left side than on the right side.

4. Orchitis. The testicles are located in the scrotum, one on each side. The testicles secrete male hormones, which play an important role in the development and maturation of male reproductive organs and the appearance of male secondary sexual characteristics. There are many causes of orchitis. For example, patients with mumps may suffer from orchitis, which can cause testicular pain and swelling. Gonorrhea is the most common sexually transmitted disease, which can cause orchitis in severe cases. Chronic prostatitis can also cause testicular pain, which manifests as unilateral pain, mostly dull pain or pulling pain, which is persistent. Most patients are young and strong, and it is rare in the elderly.
