Is it possible to have a baby without testicles?

Testicles are very important spermatogenic organs for men, and are as important to men as life. Without testicles, men cannot have erections like other men, cannot have sex smoothly, and have difficulty secreting estrogen, which affects fertility. Therefore, if a man loses his testicles, he cannot have children, unless he undergoes surgery to improve his condition.

There is a small number of men who are infertile after marriage. When undergoing necessary examinations, they accidentally discover that their testicles are not in the scrotum but in the "stomach". This is medically called cryptorchidism.

There may be many reasons for testicles to be "difficult to return home", but no matter what the reason is, the higher temperature in the "belly" may affect the sperm production process, resulting in few or no sperm, thus affecting fertility.

In order to determine whether a patient with cryptic testis is still fertile, we must first distinguish whether it is bilateral cryptic testis or unilateral cryptic testis, as well as the location of the cryptic testis.

Generally speaking, the function of the descended testicle on the other side of most patients with unilateral cryptorchidism is normal and may play a partial compensatory role in function (one testicle "bears" the responsibility of two testicles), so a certain amount of sperm can be produced and natural reproduction can be achieved. However, for patients with unilateral cryptorchidism, the testicle on the other side may not be normal. Some people have found that about half of the patients with unilateral cryptorchidism have normal sperm, while the other half may have different degrees of sperm abnormalities, and even severe cases may be azoospermic.

The location of the cryptic testis is also very important. The deeper the cryptic testis is (the higher the testis is), the smaller the chance of restoring fertility is. However, for patients with cryptic testis that is located lower (within the inguinal groove), the testicles can have different degrees of spermatogenesis function and the chance of fertility is greater.

A more accurate way to determine the fertility of a cryptic patient is to perform a semen analysis to see whether there are sperm in the semen, how many sperm there are, and the functional status of the sperm.
