How long does it take to quit smoking and drinking before getting pregnant?

If male friends want to prepare for pregnancy, they must not smoke or drink anymore. They must find a way to quit smoking and drinking. This will increase the chances of successful conception and make their bodies healthier. Otherwise, the quality of sperm in their bodies will be greatly reduced, and there may even be too few sperm, which is very troublesome.

Stop smoking. Consider this: Recent studies have determined that men who smoke have lower sperm counts. And, quitting smoking will also help keep your family away from smoking. Passive smoking is more harmful to your wife and unborn child.

7. Stay away from alcohol. Alcohol has a certain toxic effect on the male reproductive system. It can cause sperm abnormalities and have adverse effects on the fetus. According to research, if the husband drinks 30 ml of alcohol per day one month before his wife becomes pregnant, or drinks 10 times in a month, each time more than 50 ml, or drinks once in a month, and the amount of alcohol is greater than or equal to 125 ml, the birth weight of the newborn born by his wife is 236 grams lower than that of the control group. Under such circumstances, low-weight babies born will have difficulties in feeding, low resistance, easy to get sick, slow growth and development, low intelligence, etc., and even affect the genetic genes of sperm.

1. Too few sperm

Too few sperm is also called oligospermia, which is generally divided into primary oligospermia, idiopathic oligospermia and secondary oligospermia. Among them, idiopathic oligospermia accounts for about 60% of the total infertility population. The causes of oligospermia are relatively complex: for example, long-term injection of large amounts of androgen, due to negative feedback, the hypothalamic gonadotropin release hormone decreases, causing gonadotropin secretion to decrease, causing sperm reduction or lack of drug effects, which can directly or indirectly affect sperm production.

For example, sulfonamides, furantane, spironolactone, cyclophosphamide, methotrexate, colchicine, and radiation exposure can delay or stop sperm cell division. At the same time, overheating inhibits the survival and maturation of sperm, and may also lead to a decrease in the number of sperm in semen or a decrease in their motility.

Among them, azoospermia is the most noteworthy. Azoospermia refers to the symptom that there is no sperm in the semen after centrifugation and microscopic observation. The causes of azoospermia are mostly due to congenital deficiency, weak life fire or acquired imbalance, which makes it difficult for sperm to survive due to lack of essence and blood.

2. Too many sperm

Too many sperm does not mean that men have stronger reproductive ability. For men who are trying to conceive, if the sperm count exceeds the normal maximum value, or even exceeds 1-2 times (sperm count> 300 million/ml), it can also be attributed to sperm quality issues.

Some men who are trying to have a baby mistakenly believe that too many sperms will be beneficial to fertility. In fact, the harm of too many sperms should not be ignored: too many sperms and excessive crowding will not only affect the vitality of sperms, making it difficult for them to pass through the cervix and uterus to reach the fallopian tubes, but also those who have too many sperms are likely to have some hormonal dysfunction, so that although the number of sperms is large, the quality may not be very high. This is also the main reason for infertility caused by too many sperms.

It is worth noting for men who are planning to have a baby that if the sperm count exceeds 400 million per milliliter, they should be careful about whether they have prostatitis.

For patients with hyperspermia, they should have a moderate diet, avoid spicy and greasy food, quit smoking and drinking; pay attention to the degree of sexual life, especially those with kidney deficiency should exercise moderation; at the same time, they should cooperate with the doctor's advice and adhere to the treatment course.
