Surgical steps for male urethral dilator placement

Surgical steps for male urethral dilator placement

Urinating is very important for the human body. It can discharge excess water and useless metabolic substances from the human body. It is an important part of the circulatory system. Many men have urethral obstruction. In this case, people generally need to take the surgical method of placing a urethral dilator to treat it. So what are the surgical steps for placing a male urethral dilator?

Surgical procedures

1. The operator wears gloves and stands on the left side of the patient: First, inject 5 ml of paraffin, a disinfectant liquid, from the urethral opening. Squeeze the lubricant upward in a retrograde manner to the posterior urethra. The operator lifts the penis with his left hand and gently inserts the urethral dilator coated with lubricant into the urethra with his right hand (generally, adults can start with a No. 20 urethral dilator). When the urethral dilator is inserted into the urethral bulb, it gradually becomes an upright position.

2. When the urethral dilator is pushed forward to the urogenital diaphragm, there will be resistance. At this time, the penis and urethral dilator can be gently laid down flat, and the urethral dilator can be pushed along the dorsal side of the urethra while laying flat. When pushing, the force must be light and avoid using force...The male urethra is a mucosal tube, about 18 cm long from the internal opening of the bladder to the external opening of the urethra, and is divided into two parts: the posterior urethra and the anterior urethra. Above the urogenital diaphragm is the posterior urethra, including the prostatic part and the membranous part. The membranous part penetrates the urogenital diaphragm and is surrounded by the external urethral sphincter. It is characterized by being narrow, weak and fixed, and is easily damaged during urethral dilation. Below the urogenital diaphragm is the anterior urethra, including the bulb and the cavernous body. Perineal riding injuries often cause damage to the bulbar urethra, which often leads to urethral stenosis. When dilating the urethra or inserting instruments through the urethra, the instruments should be inserted gently along the normal curvature, and no force should be used to cause injury.

Urethral dilators are mainly suitable for scar urethral stenosis. After dilation, the urethra can discharge urine. Please do not use it casually to avoid causing unnecessary harm to the body.
