When a man's prostate gland becomes diseased, the color, cell count, pH, and biochemical composition of the semen metabolized by the alveoli will change. Therefore, when a male prostate patient goes to the hospital for outpatient treatment, the doctor will always ask him to check his semen.

How to read the semen test report?

The results of normal semen should be:

Appearance: Milky white thin liquid.

Lecithin bodies: Very numerous, almost filling the visual field.

Squamous epithelial cells: rare.

Blood cells: less than 6 at low power (HP) under optical microscope.

White blood cell count: less than 10 (HP).

Male sperm: Rare.

PH value: 6.3~6.5

When prostatitis occurs, the male prostate lecithin bodies decrease, the blood cell count exceeds 6/HP, the white blood cell count is more than 10/HP, and many pathogens can be found, with Staphylococcus aureus being the most common, followed by Streptococcus spp., Chlamydia, etc. Acid-resistant staining can be used to find acid-fast bacilli. In addition, when inflammation occurs, the semen becomes light yellow and thick or light red with sticky threads.

When there is a trichomonas infection, trichomonas can be detected by testing; when there are stones, crystals composed of calcium carbonate can be seen; prostate cancer may have bloody fluid, and excessive blood cells and tumor cells can be seen under microscopy; tuberculosis bacteria can be seen in male prostate tuberculosis.

It is worth mentioning that if a large number of sperm are found in the endoscope, it means that the sample collection does not meet the inspection regulations, and it is necessary to re-sample and re-test according to the regulations.
