What happens if you have prostatitis?

The prostate is a male-specific reproductive organ. It is located near the male bladder and is an important tissue for controlling physiological behavior and maintaining physiological health. It is also one of the factors that affect people's health. Because the incidence of male prostate disease is very high, it has brought an incomparable impact on men's health and family life. Let's take a look at what happens when men get prostatitis.

1. Prostatitis harms sex life: It is an indisputable fact that patients with prostatitis have difficulty in having sex. First, excessive sex may aggravate the condition of prostatitis. Second, most patients with prostatitis have a decrease in libido because the pain of repeated ejaculation causes patients to reject sexual intercourse. Prostatitis does not necessarily mean a complete abstinence from sex. Patients with chronic prostatitis should maintain a moderate sex life according to their age and physical condition. It should not be too frequent, nor should they abstain from sex. It is usually appropriate to have sex once every 7-10 days.

2. Long-term treatment and failure to cure: Patients with prostatitis often fail to recover after long-term treatment mainly because the prostate is located deep in the pelvic cavity and develops slowly; its excretion opening is connected to the urethra, ejaculatory duct, and vas deferens, and is easily affected by infection from other parts. Tiny lesions in the prostate are difficult to diagnose and treat.

3. Prostatitis causes abnormal urination: The prostate is an important component of the male urinary system, so the impact of prostatitis on male urinary function is direct and obvious. As the prostate becomes inflamed and swollen, it directly compresses the space of the bladder, causing the volume of the bladder to shrink, so it is easy to feel the urge to urinate. At the same time, prostatitis will also affect the normal physiological functions of peripheral organs and other factors, so symptoms of frequent urination, urgency and pain will appear.

4. Cross infection: There is a type of prostatitis that is caused by unclean sexual intercourse or indirect infection with gonococci and non-gonococci, which causes urethritis. After long-term treatment, it is delayed and complicated. This type of prostatitis is highly contagious. Both spouses must be treated at the same time after being infected, otherwise cross infection will occur again. This is also an important reason why some patients cannot be cured for a long time.
