If a patient suspects that he has prostate cancer, he should go to the hospital for a PSA test in time, because this indicator can effectively infer whether the patient has the possibility of prostate cancer. So what should the normal PSA value be?

The normal value of PSA should be less than 3ng/mL. I can tell you for sure that a normal PSA does not mean that there is no prostate cancer. You should also do prostate color Doppler ultrasound examination, rectal examination, and if necessary, you may need to do prostate MRI examination. In clinical practice, many patients have normal PSA, but prostate cancer can be effectively detected through B-ultrasound or MRI, rectal examination. Therefore, it should be taken seriously and PSA should be monitored regularly every year. If there is an abnormality, further examination should be carried out in the early stage to achieve early detection, early diagnosis, and early treatment of prostate cancer.

We usually believe that after prostate cancer is eradicated, if it drops below 0.2 after 6 weeks, a cure is achieved. We call this value 0.2 nanograms per milliliter or less to achieve this effect. But actually in clinical practice, if your PSA drops as low as possible without medication, the better. It would be better if it drops to 0, less than 0.001, or less than 0.0003. Generally speaking, if you have regular checkups and it's below 0.2, you don't have to worry.

But if it is greater than 0.2 for more than two times in a row, then we will consider a deepening recurrence, and we may have to further closely monitor the progression of the disease. So 0.2 is a measurement level after radical prostatectomy. Just remember this number. It is definitely not 4. Many people think that it is below 4 nanograms. It is wrong to say that below 4 nanograms is a normal value. We think 0.2 is a better value after radical prostatectomy.
