Will the testicles get smaller?

Under normal circumstances, testicles will not shrink. As the male body develops, testicles will grow larger because testicles are the place where sperm is produced, and during sexual intercourse, testicles will be excited and grow larger. However, when testicles appear to be smaller, it should be taken seriously, as there may be orchitis or scrotal atrophy, which will affect male fertility.

6 factors that cause testicle shrinkage

1. Viral infection Viral infection is the most common cause of testicular atrophy in children and adolescents, especially the mumps virus, commonly known as "mumps". When the testicles are invaded by this virus, the spermatogenic tissue in the testicles will be destroyed, the testicles will shrink in size, and the texture will become soft.

2. Injury to the scrotum or testicles: Impact injury may cause scrotal hematoma or testicular laceration. Even if the wound heals, the testicles will be in a state of insufficient blood supply for a long time and atrophy will occur.

3. Inflammation: Severe orchitis causes testicular swelling and pain, which can last for several days. Testicular tissue is damaged by bacterial invasion, leading to atrophy of the testicular tissue.

4. Effects of radioactive substances Anyone who has long-term contact with radioactive substances, such as long-term professionals working with X-rays, isotopes, etc., may develop testicular atrophy if they are not well protected.

5. Endocrine diseases: The testicle is an endocrine organ that mainly produces androgens. Diseases of many organs in the body that control endocrine secretions, such as the pituitary gland, adrenal glands, and hypothalamus, can interfere with the function of the testicles and cause testicular atrophy.

6. Effects of drugs: Long-term use of certain toxic drugs, such as arsenic, or repeated use of estrogen drugs that are anti-androgen, such as ethidol, can cause testicular atrophy.
