What causes lumps in male breasts?

1. Breast hyperplasia

Breast lump, accompanied by mild tenderness, is usually located near the periphery of the breast and is often confined to one side. As the lump increases in size, it becomes cystic.

2. Mastitis

Acute purulent mastitis causes local skin redness, swelling, heat, and pain, and tender lumps appear in the affected area. Systemic symptoms such as fever may also occur.

3. Breast fibroma

Clinically, the main symptom is painless breast lumps, which are more likely to occur in the upper outer part of the breast. In a small number of cases, breast fibroadenoma coexists with breast hyperplasia, and there may be mild breast swelling and pain.
