How to self-check for varicocele:

1. Standing position

1. Observe whether the scrotum is at the same height and whether a worm-like venous mass can be seen on the scrotal wall. If a venous mass can be seen and one side of the scrotum is lower than the other side, it can be diagnosed as varicocele.

2. If there is no obvious change in the scrotum from the outside, but a venous mass can be felt along the outside of the scrotum; or if the patient can feel the venous mass when holding his breath (increasing abdominal pressure), it also indicates the presence of varicocele.

2. Flat lying position

Varicose vein lesions can be divided into three grades: mild, moderate, and severe.

1. After standing and holding your breath, you cannot see the varicose veins but you can feel them, and the varicose veins will quickly disappear when you lie down and become mild varicocele.

2. A venous mass that can be seen and felt and gradually disappears after lying down is called moderate varicocele.

3. There are obvious large blood vessels on the surface of the scrotum, and obvious earthworm-like dilated veins inside the scrotum, which disappear slowly when lying flat. This is severe varicocele.
