Why do men often experience stomach cramps?

Men have many social activities at work, and they drink and smoke. Therefore, many men have stomach problems. Gastric spasm is a more serious stomach problem in which the stomach muscles twitch. The symptoms of gastric spasm are stomach pain, vomiting, etc. So what is gastric spasm?

Gastric spasm causes:

Gastric spasm is a symptom, not a disease. It is characterized by hysterical, nervous abdominal and chest pain. Sometimes acute allergic reactions can also cause gastric spasm. About 90% of so-called gastric spasms are not caused by spasms of the stomach itself. Spasms caused by the stomach itself will not feel painful. It is likely to be cholelithiasis or other diseases, and this kind of pain is very difficult to eliminate.

The most common reason is the stimulation of food: hot, cold, spicy stimulation, which can easily cause gastric spasm. In addition, mental factors also have a great influence on gastric spasm. Some people have stomach pain when they get angry. This is the reason why gastric spasm is also related to unhygienic food and bacterial infection.

Gastric disease itself, such as ulcer, gastritis, bile reflux, dietary factors, cold, etc. can also cause it. Common factors are as follows:

1. Environmental factors:

1. Among environmental factors, diet is the most common. It is generally accepted that irregular diet may increase the risk of gastric spasm, and raw, cold and stomach-irritating foods can often cause recurrence of gastric spasm.

2. Different personal habits are often related to the onset of gastric spasms. For example, the incidence of gastric spasms in long-term smokers is significantly higher than that in non-smokers.

3. Highly stressful jobs are more likely to cause stomach cramps. This is just a general impression and there is no definite evidence. However, judging from the patients who come to the hospital for treatment, a large proportion of intellectuals suffer from stomach cramps.

4. In addition, it has been confirmed that aspirin can destroy the autoregulatory function of gastric acid secretion and the gastric mucosal barrier, and can cause gastric spasm.

2. Genetic factors:

The onset of gastric spasm is closely related to genetic factors. From the study of family trees, the relatives of patients with chronic peptic gastric spasm are 2.5-3 times more likely to suffer from gastric spasm than the general population. Moreover, the heredity of gastric spasm and gastric spasm is unrelated to each other. Relatives and children of gastric spasm patients are more likely to suffer from gastric spasm than gastric spasm. And vice versa. If one of the identical twins suffers from stomach or gastric spasm, the other is more likely to suffer from the same gastric spasm, but this is not the case for fraternal twins. The identity of gastric spasm suffered by identical twins shows that genetic factors play an important role in the onset of gastric spasm. Gastric spasm is related to two genetic characteristics. ABO blood type and the secretion status of blood type substance ABH. People with blood type "O" are 1.4 times more likely to suffer from gastric spasm than those with blood type "A", "B" or "AB". In short, according to current knowledge, the onset of peptic gastric spasm has a certain relationship with genetics. Although genetics cannot be used to fully explain all gastric spasms, no matter what the cause is, peptic gastric spasm seems to have a family tendency.

3. Physical and mental factors:

The relationship between mental factors and upper gastrointestinal diseases is well known. It has long been recognized that long-term psychological stress or continuous high mental tension is prone to peptic gastric spasm. However, the exact mechanism has not yet been confirmed. It may be related to long-term psychological (mental) stress, which causes an increase in gastric spasm or a weakening of mucosal resistance. Given that psychological stress is a common phenomenon in society, but only a small number of people suffer from gastric spasm, there must be other pathogenic factors involved in addition to physical and mental factors.

Some chronic diseases are prone to be accompanied by gastric spasm, such as gastrinoma, alkalitropic cell leukemia, chronic obstructive pulmonary emphysema, cirrhosis, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic renal failure, etc.
