What are mixed thyroid nodules?

According to the texture of thyroid nodules, they can be divided into solid nodules, cystic nodules and mixed nodules. Solid nodules are nodules with fillings inside. Specifically, they are solid heteroplastic tissues in the thyroid organ tissue, such as lumps and tumors. They are different from cystic nodules. Cystic nodules are mostly liquid or hollow. Cystic-solid nodules mean that the surface of the nodule is cystic, but the center of the nodule is solid. If the nodule is partly cystic and partly solid, it is a mixed thyroid nodule.

Single and multiple

There are two types of mixed thyroid nodules: single and multiple. Single means there is only one mixed nodule on the thyroid gland, and multiple means there are multiple mixed nodules. According to the location of the nodules, they can be divided into left (left lobe) mixed thyroid nodules, right (right lobe) mixed thyroid nodules, unilateral mixed thyroid nodules, and bilateral mixed thyroid nodules.
