In the male population, because they often have irregular diet, the probability of abdominal pain is also very high. So, what is the cause of abdominal pain? 1. True visceral pain It refers to abdominal pain caused by lesions in abdominal organs (such as the stomach, intestines, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, etc.). The nerve impulses generated by the stimulation of the peripheral nerve receptors in the lesioned organs are transmitted to the cerebral cortex, resulting in abdominal pain. The reasons are: (1) Caused by visceral ischemia, inflammation, mechanical and chemical stimulation, smooth muscle spasm or strong contraction, etc., which lead to changes in the tension of the visceral wall muscle layer and spasm or expansion of the tube wall; (2) Abdominal pain is caused by compression of the solid visceral capsule due to visceral congestion, bleeding, swelling or adjacent tissues. The characteristics of true visceral pain are that the pain is mostly dull or cramping, with unclear localization and no local skin allergy. 2. Similar to visceral pain Also known as body wall pain, it is the abdominal pain caused by chemical stimulation (such as inflammation) and physical stimulation (such as twisting and pulling) of the abdominal wall, peritoneal wall and intestinal mesentery, which causes the receptors distributed in these tissues to send impulses to the cerebral cortex. It is similar to visceral pain in that it is sharp and piercing, the pain is continuous, and the location is accurate, consistent with the location of the visceral lesions, and is often accompanied by clear and constant local tenderness and abdominal muscle stiffness. 3. Referred pain Also known as radiating pain, it is caused by impulses from visceral nerve fibers that spread in the spinal cord to the corresponding spinal nerves. It manifests as pain on the body surface far away from the diseased organ after a certain organ in the abdomen is stimulated. There are two types of referred pain, one is trunk referred pain and the other is visceral referred pain. The characteristic of referred pain is that it comes from the stimulation of a certain organ in the abdomen, but the pain occurs in another part, and the site of pain is a certain distance away from the diseased organ, which means that the disease of the internal organs in the abdominal cavity causes pain on the surface of the abdomen or outside the abdomen. In addition, diseases outside the abdomen can also cause sensory pain in the abdomen, that is, pseudo-abdominal pain caused by non-abdominal diseases. Local referred pain is often accompanied by allergic pain, muscle spasms, deep tenderness and autonomic hyperfunction. |
