Does quitting smoking cause insomnia? Experts have tips to relieve insomnia

According to experts, sleep disorders are a common side effect of quitting smoking. Most people who quit smoking will encounter this situation. If this problem cannot be solved in time, it will easily reduce their confidence in quitting smoking. In fact, if you want to effectively solve the insomnia problem caused by quitting smoking, you can use some natural treatments.

Quitting caffeine

Caffeine is a stimulant, and most people know this, but here's a fact that's not widely known: smokers metabolize caffeine at about twice the rate of non-smokers, resulting in a high tolerance to caffeine. When you quit smoking, the coffee or cola you used to drink regularly may now make you nervous and anxious. Especially if you suffer from insomnia, you'll need to reduce your caffeine intake for a period of time. Once you're in the process of quitting smoking, there's a good chance that you'll be able to drink coffee again, although perhaps not as much as before.

Take a hot bath

This is one of my personal favorite ways to relax and de-stress, and I recommend it often, and it is indeed good for your body and mind. In the bath, light a few candles, use some scented bath salts, and relax. Massage

Have your spouse or a masseuse massage you to loosen up your muscles. If you can get a full body massage, that's great, but even massaging your neck, shoulders, face, and head for 10 or 15 minutes may be enough to relax you and help you fall asleep.

A cup of herbal tea

There are a variety of teas on the market that can help soothe and promote sleep; ask at your supermarket or local health food store.

A cup of hot milk

Add a little honey and cardamom to the milk. The reason why warm milk helps us sleep may be due to the fact that it is a food rich in amino acids and L-tryptophan. L-tryptophan helps the body produce neurotransmitters such as seratonin. Neurotransmitters are specific chemicals that act as messengers in chemical synapses, and their role is to tell our body to shut down at night to ensure normal sleep so that we can stay awake during the day.
