Testicular effusion in boys is a relatively common disease. The most common symptom is that the testicle gradually becomes larger on one side of the boy's testicle or a lump appears in the groin. Under normal circumstances, the lump will appear oval or pear-shaped and there is no pain. When the effusion is serious, there will be a feeling of swelling. If the symptoms are mild, no treatment is required. The effusion will change as the child grows older. Types of effusion in boys Hydrocele: There is a large, round, smooth mass in the scrotum that is not connected to the abdominal cavity, the mass does not shrink, and the testicles cannot be felt. Spermatic hydrocele: There is a round and smooth mass in the spermatic cord, which is not connected to the abdominal cavity, so the mass will not shrink and the testicles can be felt. Communicating hydrocele: Similar to inguinal oblique hernia, there is a narrow channel connecting to the abdominal cavity, but the intestines cannot come out and fluid can only enter and exit through the abdominal cavity. The swelling shrinks when the child lies flat, especially in the early morning, and increases after standing and moving. Treatment of hydrotesticular effusion in boys 1. If the hydrocele is not large and the tension is not high, there is no need to rush to treat it within 1 year, because it still has a chance to disappear on its own. If the mass is large, the tension is high, and it compresses the spermatic cord and testicles, surgical treatment should be performed. The purpose of surgery is to prevent the spermatic cord from being compressed and causing testicular atrophy due to blood circulation disorders. 2. This operation requires general anesthesia for children. The child will feel pain for one or two days after the operation, but will be fine afterwards. This is considered a minor operation. If the operation goes well, the child can be discharged from the hospital in a week. Impact on fertility 1. The accumulation of hydrocele around the testicles presses on the testicles, affecting blood circulation and spermatogenesis. 2. Excessive hydrocele affects the sexual life of the couple. 3. Those who suffer from diseases such as tuberculosis and orchitis are not conducive to fertility. Characteristics of hydrotesticular effusion in boys 1. The lump will not disappear due to massage or pushing up, and there is no sound of gas passing through the intestines, which is the main difference between it and inguinal oblique hernia; 2. The hydrocele feels cystic to the touch; 3. When the mass is illuminated with a strong flashlight, the hydrocele can be transparent, i.e. bright red. If it is testicular hydrocele, a black, opaque testicle can be seen in the bright red area when it is illuminated. 4. Spermatic cord or testicular hydrocele may heal on its own in infancy. In early childhood, the hydrocele can be extracted and injected with cortisone acetate, or surgical treatment can be performed. Since communicating hydrocele has a channel, surgical treatment is the main treatment. |
