What are the factors that affect sperm abnormalities?

Sperm is a very important part of the pregnancy process, but sometimes sperm production is abnormal, which indirectly reflects some health problems of men. Long-term abnormalities will also affect fertility. So what are the effects?

1. Abnormal sperm morphology. If more than 70% of sperm have abnormal morphology, especially when the wife has habitual miscarriage, it often indicates that the man's chromosomes are likely to be abnormal. Consider a karyotype test on the man to confirm or exclude this possibility. If the abnormal sperm is less than 70%, but greater than 30%, it may also lead to infertility. The cause may be varicocele, exposure to toxins, radiation, microwaves, taking drugs, etc. The cause should be found and treated or the adverse effects should be removed.

2. Non-liquefaction of semen. When semen is first ejaculated, it is a viscous liquid. Due to the action of the coagulase secreted by the seminal vesicles, it immediately coagulates into a jelly state. Then, within 5 to 30 minutes, it is restored to a liquid state by the liquefaction enzyme secreted by the prostate. If the semen does not liquefy after more than 30 minutes, it is called non-liquefaction of semen syndrome. Usually, this non-liquefaction is caused by prostatitis.

3. Abnormal semen acidity and alkalinity. When the pH value exceeds 8, it indicates inflammation of the seminal vesicle and/or prostate. If the pH value is less than 7, it may be due to obstruction of the vas deferens, or the semen sample has been left for too long in the summer.

4. Abnormal amount of semen. The normal amount of semen ejaculated is 2 to 6 ml. If the amount of semen ejaculated at one time exceeds 7 ml, it is called excessive semen. This condition can be seen in people who have abstained from sex for a long time and patients with seminal vesiculitis. It reduces the density of sperm and makes it easy for sperm to flow out of the vagina, affecting fertility.
